I bought the car back in 1998 it has spent most of its life since then sitting in my garage. I have had a lot of work done to it over the years: gone completely through the fuel system with new/rebuilt components, complete head job, rebuilt transmission, new floor panels/frame rails from K&K mfg, rebuilt/calibrated gauges, wood redone, carpet, headliner, recovered dash, tires, brakes, heater core, Windshield and gasket (140,000+ miles of pits) etc. Taking the pictures reminds me of things that I have done and forgotten about. FYI, it never had A/C, original color was green and besides looking at the paint code you'd have a hard time finding any of the original color unless you were way up underneath the dash.
I should retire in about 3 years and could better invest the money now. If I don’t sell it, then I probably will use it as my primary sunny day driver in retirement.
I have never done a title search and don’t know how many owners it has had. The odometer shows around 48,000 miles but I'm assuming it is 148,000. I've owned it for the last 14 years and believe it had sat in a museum for around 5 years before I bought it. The top side of the car looked fine and was the color in the pictures but it needed floor work which I had done. I had replica floor panels and rails welded in to resolve the rust in the floor.
Other than paintwork after the floors were installed, I haven’t had any accidents (paint chip from son's bike and small chip from hard top removal once) and haven’t had any body work done.
Oil leaks, yes, It's a 41 year old car. It has a few very minor oil leaks mainly around the area just above the oil pan but below the head. I had a complete valve job done on the engine a year or two ago. It runs great!
Original paint, no. The original color from the data plate was green. That being said, it is well painted in the maroon color. One would need to climb way up under the dash to find the original green color. I did when I replaced the heater core years ago.
All instruments and lights work. I had the instruments rebuilt/calibrated years ago after I got the car and had the clock switched over to quartz on the inside.
Chrome bumpers new. Other chrome is mostly original except for the drivers mirror, replaced new years ago. Brakes: I have replaced both front rotors years ago and I think I replaced the master cylinder then also. Tires are Pirellis and have less than 4K miles on them. Exhaust I replaced years ago. Soft top is dark brown and in good shape. Has a minor rub spot on left rear corner from going in and out of the cover. I rarely used the soft top. Most summers I left the car in the garage with the top off and only drove it on dry sunny days.
I have the original manuals that came with the car, no tools, do have top handles, I believe the jack is under the tire cover (will have to check when I get the car back from the shop), spare tire cover is on. |
